Professional Malpractice Litigation

We represent and advise various professionals in defending all types of professional liability matters.  Our attorneys have defended professionals in a wide range of industries and professions including attorneys, architects, engineers, design professionals, health care professionals, directors and officers, real estate agents and brokers, settlement agents, and tile agents.  We also represent those individuals with respect to peer review and other disciplinary matters and advised them in various other regulatory compliance matters.

We have represented attorneys in disciplinary matters throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. We have obtained various informal and formal ethics opinions from the state ethics commissions on behalf of several law firms. We have also assisted clients in obtaining recovery against unscrupulous attorneys, including handling pro bono claims and obtaining recovery from the state Client Protection Fund.

 We also have represented various health care providers with respect to peer review and other disciplinary matters, as advising them in various regulatory compliance matters.  The Firm also assists clients in responding to various subpoenas, including requests of the Attorney General's Offices on behalf of our clients.

The Firm also defends, advises and represents corporate directors and officers (for both profit and nonprofit entities).   We have handled D&O claims involving shareholder derivative suits, claims of breach of fiduciary duty, self-dealing, usurpation of corporate opportunities, unlawful distribution of corporate assets, employment-related and other torts, alter ego claims, and a wide variety of breach of contract and commercial litigation.

The Firm also defends, advises and represents architects and engineers in claims arising out of alleged errors and omissions related to professional services provided in connection with commercial, industrial and residential projects and developments.

The Firm has represented both national and local real estate brokers and agents in actions involving negligence, fraud and contractual issues. In addition, we have significant experience in litigation involving real estate settlements, including defending title agents in a variety of claims arising out of real estate transactions.  We have represented both title insurers and settlement agents in title disputes throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
